Settling In

We’re settling in here at the new house (In all my nerddom I’ve dubbed it Casa de Baya or “Berry House” for it’s pale pink color on the outside.) Our move was both spur-of-the-moment and long-coming all in one. We tend to spend quite awhile debating big decisions and then move on them in one read more

Eight Down

Twenty-three to go. Days that is. We had decided that we were aiming to move out of this apartment by February 28th. Except then we found the perfect place for us but we needed to snap it up immediately or risk losing it. So we’re paying rent both places this month, giving us thirty-one days read more

Nostalgia

Embedding courtesy of Dintillion I miss my family most at birthdays and holidays. This year I am missing my family something fierce and today I started thinking about this commercial for a local bank. It ran for a long, long time although comments on another version of this video say it has been axed now read more

Upgraded!

I just upgraded things to WordPress 2.7. Everything is slick and shiny on the backend which makes me a happy girl. It looks like everything is fine, but let me know if wonkiness ensues.

Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas…

…in New England. We got 4″ of snow on Sunday night. Snow and cold is a little abnormal, we trend towards wet, melting, slushy snow that only sticks around a day or so, falling when temperatures are above freezing. Instead, tonight we’re sitting at 12 degrees Fahrenheit at 10pm (they keep lowering the predicted low, read more

Christmas Craft: Tiny Mittens

I’ve been having some issues with large knitting projects, which means I had to abandon 3 pieces of Christmas knitting. I was knitting for too many hours a day trying to finish two large projects for gifts and ended up with very sore shoulders, elbows and wrists. I knew I wanted to make some ornaments read more

Baker Baker

There’s a voice inside my head that says, well, if three kinds of cookies are good, eight or nine kinds of cookies are better. And that is how I have spent the past few days, dusted with flour, washing my stand mixer bowl over and over and over again in a baking frenzy to prepare read more

One From the “Huh?” Files

While in California, a friend took us to Napa where we found this gem. “A Man’s Store …for work and play”, selling such things as Zippos, Wranglers, Swiss Army and Leatherman. The typography (and totally unnecessary ellipsis) really makes the storefront for me.

Amazed by Vastness

Nature is an amazing thing. I think only 1/2 to 2/3 of the total diameter of the tree is showing in this photo. And I am not a tiny girl by any stretch of imagination. So, this tree is enormous and awe-inspiring. It was also located in a kind of creepy place, surrounded by chainsaw-cut read more
