Inspired by Julie and Cyn I’ve decided to make a list of the reasons why I am a feminist…
Because I believe in equality
Because I believe that my ideas, designs, and views are worth just as much as any man’s.
Because I never want to have to tell my daughter “only men get to be…”
Because I never want to have to tell my son “only women get to be…”
Because I believe that love knows no gender, age, race or language
Because I believe that the right of legislation stops when it touches a persons’ body.
Because I believe in empowerment.
Because I believe in the value and honor of being a mom.
Because I believe that my place is where I fit, not where someone tells me to be.
Because I believe that to not be a feminist means to admit that I am worth less than someone else and therefore deserve less rights.
Because I was raised by parents who taught me that I was strong, and that I could do anything I set my mind to.
Because I will gladly spend my life proving they were right.
Because I have always been surrounded by strong women–my mom, my friends, my teachers, my mentors, my boss–and they have inspired me to reach every part of my potential that I possibly can.
Because I was educated in a traditionally male field and saw first hand how much of the good ol’ boys club still exists.
Because I have too much respect for myself not to be.
