putting my own spin on things

Don’t Stop Believing.

Stress and weariness have kind of enveloped me, although I’ve done very little during the past two days.  I have my program’s orientation tomorrow morning, then I start my second job on Wednesday.  Derek has to be moved in completely by Monday, and I work both jobs Thursday and Friday, then just one on Saturday and Sunday.  Then I start classes on Monday.  Wheee!

I have decided that a hot bubble bath does indeed solve most of my issues though.  I had a good long soak earlier, and apart from discovering that somewhere along last week I gave myself a large, ugly bruise on my lower right calf things feel much better now.

Field school was fantastic.  I got to see Yellowstone for the first time ever, and I learned how to do some fun things.  Like remove and replace the glazing on old panes of glass (modern glazing is just rubber caulking, historic glazing is a mix of linseed oil, chalk and clay).  It was chilly and rainy in Idaho (snow in Yellowstone) but apart from one morning where my fingers became red and swollen from the amount of window glazing I was doing, things were tolerable.  The food was terrific, and the company was fantastic.  I met a guy who, as Anne of Green Gables would say, feels like a “Kindred Spirit”.  Someone I was immediately comfortable with, in a brotherly-sisterly manner.  Anyway, I’m off to sleep, I’ll post more stories later.  I did’t knit as much as I’d hoped, beer and cards turned out to take up the majority of my minimal free time.  I’ll leave you, my readers, with a photo taken at the peak of exhaustion, just before sleeping on Friday night, of myself and my new friend, Chris.
