WIP Wednesday: Trophy Overhaul
The before photo isn't great, but today's project is a total overhaul of this trophy. I've dismantled it, cleaned it, pulled off the craptastic faux-wood contact paper and now it's curing, so that I can put it back together tomorrow.
Tired on Tuesday
So I present you with evidence as to why I love this town:
A bus, with a boat on top. Photo taken last May at the Willamette Valley MusicFest. Fun Fact: I did the design for the MusicFest site (coded by someone else). I'm not sure how much it may change for WVMF 2009, but as of the time of publishing, it is my design.
Monday Musings: On Holiday Knitting
I hate deadline knitting. Hate it. I like to just kind of plunk along, putting the knitting down for days if something else strikes my fancy. And yet it seems like I keep getting sucked into work on deadline. Knitting for babies, knitting to have something to wear at a wedding and knitting for the holidays. This last one can be a killer. It's made worse for me because I have to ship gifts to my family, all the way across the country. So I have to have things finished by the 15th at the absolute latest if it's going to arrive on time.
The last time I attempted knitting, Nanie got a half-knit scarf in a box, and my husband got skeins of yarn in a box. Ask him if he's ever seen that pair of socks? (The answer is no. I made it through one and then got really really bored). I have chosen two large projects and then a variety of smaller projects this year. For a total of fifteen projects. I'm not going to enumerate them here as some of the recipients are readers but here's how the breakdown stands now:
Finished: five
Started: three.
Yet to Start: seven.
Add to this the fact that I'll be baking as well and I think there's a very good chance that I am totally out of my gourd crazy. I love making things for people though. Anyone else out there focusing on handmade items? Feeling the time crunch? Or are you more organized than I am?
Snapshot Sunday: Elk
I finally finished editing all of the photos from our trip to California. I haven't gotten them all uploaded yet, but I found this one, and thought it would be prefect for sharing. On our way home up Highway 101, just north of Eureka we came on a herd of elk strung across the road. And then another 50 yards or so up was this lone buck. He was a beauty. I'd never seen elk before moving here, New England is moose territory and moose and elk don't live in the same places.
