Cathartic Ink putting my own spin on things

Sleepy.

Trellis is almost done. It just needs to be blocked and seamed. It has fiddly construction bits, and there are places where I followed the directions and it still doesn't seem quite right. It could be operator error, but I'm pretty anal when it comes to following directions and had the entire sweater charted out, annotated for any increases or decreases on the marginas, highlighting as I finished each row. I do take full credit for joining one of the shoulder seams incorrectly twice before finally doing it right. So, we'll block it and see if we can pull some of the wonkiness into shape. I'm sure I will be able to, nothing is seriously off, although it bugs me that the cables don't line up at the shoulders, the size that was knitted for the sample did. It is doubtful that I will ever knit a larger version of this sweater [I had planned to since I ended up making the wee-est size.] I'll find another fun cabled baby sweater, one with less fiddly armpits maybe. We'll see, maybe I'll love this to death after I finish it. If not, it will hardly be the last sweater I knit for this wee one. I also have an entire skein of yarn left over, which means I bought 150% of what I needed. Oh well, I'll find something to do with it, maybe a hat.

Black Sheep Gathering tomorrow! I am prepared to come home with as much fiber as my fairly small budget will allow. Whee!

Office Supplies Make me Giddy

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! I am ordering office supplies right now, and it really does make me giddy. All of the pens and sharpies. Huzzah! I also got to order three new fancy filing cabinets and get a quote for an expensive printer. I have no idea where we're going to put this stuff once it gets here, but it will be fun. My boss ordered a mess more stuff this morning, including a second [less expensive] printer, and mucho ink and paper. I got to compile that list for her which was almost as much fun as ordering things myself. Almost. Tomorrow we get to go and order computers since we're trying to buy things while there's leftover money and everything we order has to be here by the end of the month. I am guessing my office will be pretty tight with the storage of items.

My office will be moving soon, which is good news although it will take up a massive amount of our time since we agreed to put some sweat equity into the space that we're moving into. We'll be painting and doing some other various things. It looks like we're the first on the list for construction this summer, which is great because it'll disrupt us less. I'm looking forward to picking out paint samples and all. I also get to help pick out furniture, including my own chair. Huzzah!

There has been a great deal of knitting going on in preparation for a baby that is due to arrive in about two weeks. A dear friend of mine is about to pop. I'm looking forward to the arrival, I just have to hope that I can get the sweater finished, I'm knitting more slowly because my left arm is still bothering me a bit from my tumble awhile back. Photos to come!

Busy Busy.

Hell of a busy week. Last week and at least the first half of this one will continue to be. I have a final to turn in tomorrow [done] and a final to turn in on Wednesday [not done] as well as a presentation on Tuesday [also not done.] I also have extra credit to submit tomorrow [although I already emailed it to the professor because she never told us how to submit it, just said to check the syllabus which didn't say anything other than the time it was due.] Last week I got my thesis proposal approved, next week I get to fill out human subjects compliance forms. Whee! Then the fabulous Kristi and I are going to take a joint research trip to Whidbey Island/Tacoma. I'm going to help her measure the building that she's writing an historic structures report about and we're both going to visit some archives in Tacoma. Hopefully I'll get everything I need this time around.

Everyone was really positive about my thesis topic, I never realized that it might be interesting to people other than myself. It was suggested that I might be able to find an outlet for publication when done, which boggles my mind. It'd be a great resume item, that's for sure, especially as the outlet for publication would be the agency that I most want to work for in the whole wide world. So, let's keep our fingers crossed.

My arm issues are still lingering, I think that I did some internal bruising that is slow to heal. It's really frustrating, I can't spin and have a hard time knitting with the aching in my arm. If it keeps up for too much longer I'm going to have it looked at, although I hestitate since I don't think there's really anything that can be done about it. Whee, I guess.

Birthday Recap

My entire family has learned to feed my fiber addiction. I got the before mentioned alpaca laceweight from my mother, a subscription to Spin-Off and a book about spinning from TheBoy, and funds for the Black Sheep Gathering from TheBoy's mom and grandmother. I also got a pretty necklace from TheBoy and a vase from the fabulous Kristi. It kind of looks like a tall head of lettuce, slender at the base with a slight bulge to its sides. It sounds kookie but it really is lovely! I also received flowers from a friend and tulips from TheBoy's step-father. So, all-in-all it was quite a haul.

I didn't take any photos yesterday, I was too busy trying to talk to 12 people at once. A friend of mine took one of she and I, but that was all.

Another Year Older.

It's official. I have lived for one quarter century. There were many festivities this weekend, including the beginnings of the wedding shawl with the beautiful, beautiful alpaca that my mom bought me for my birthday. I have 383 days in which to finish it. There's just barely more than a year until the wedding, when I get to marry the most best man in the whole wide world! There's also just less than a month until a dear friend of mine has her baby, and a sweater that isn't going to knit herself. I guess there won't be much knitting on the shawl in the next month!
