Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

The director's cut version of Donnie Darko came out yesterday. I reserved it online at Border's and went to pick it up on my way home (the bus stop I get off at is across the street from the Border's in town). I go in, picked up the latest issue of Popular Science for TheBoy, and go to the register to pick up my reserved copy. I had received notice that it was in, however, the girl couldn't find it. *sigh* I got to stand at the counter for nearly 20 minutes waiting for the manager to locate a copy on the shelf and when she returned with it, her response was "why do they have to change the cover???" the cover itself is dark, like the original, but the whole thing is in a white cardboard slipcover. I then told her that they have to change it, otherwise nerds like me wouldn't know the original from the director's cut when they sat next to each other on their shelf at home. Yep, I am that nerdy. In the process of waiting a guy did say to me "I saw Gir on your bag and it made me smile." I spent an hour and a half sewing the darn patch on, so it was nice to have a stranger say something nice about it. I haven't watched the director's cut yet, I'm hoping to do so this afternoon, I'm so very excited by it. I was really sad when it didn't come to theatres around here.

DE-light

I am opposed, on principle, to people naming food items blankity-blank delight. Or even worse, delite. I realized this today while making case signs for a sandwich named "vegetarian delight". Well, that's all well and good that someone didn't have enough creativity to come up with a better name for it, but come on! What's so delightful about a mediocre sandwich? That's all I'm sayin'.

A Mystery.

TheBoy opened the door this morning and found a box waiting there. A box addressed to me. A box from Widman's Coffee and Fine Chocolates, a candy company in Fargo. I asked him if he'd ordered me something as we had been talking about Widman's and the fact that they make Chipperz--chocolate covered potato chips--while watching Unwrapped on the food network. So, I opened the box, and inside, sure enough was a 1/3 pound bag of Chipperz. (I should note I have never eaten them before). No note. So, no idea who sent them. Well, I have some ideas because only about two dozen people in Fargo have my address. However, the mystery of not knowing right now is driving me crazy!

When Ocean’s Attack.

TheBoy and I went to the ocean yesterday. We were so close after attending another engagement that we decided we needed to go see the ocean. Which promptly attacked us, soaking our legs to halfway up to our knees. We also spent a little over an hour at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, which is where he took me on our first real date last March. Below are several photos from our day, I took a lot more than this. Click to biggerize.

Happy Valentine’s Day

I have the best boy ever. I got this from him last week but decided to save posting about it until today because it was my gift from him. I sent him an email one day talking about how much I wanted the WWII sock knitting kit. Next thing I know the UPS Man is ringing my doorbell and I am the proud owner of said kit. The yarn is such a beautiful olive green, so soft, and I can't wait until I have time to knit the socks.

Speaking of socks, I have 2/3 of the second striped sock left to knit. I'm about 4-5 inches into Rogue and haven't tried to photograph it due to lack of sunlight. I'll do so soon.
