Its 10pm, What Are YOU Doing?
So, after some quality time together tonight, TheBoy told me that he almost cut off his hair today. So I asked him if he was going to go to the barber, or just take his clippers to it. I've been dragging my feet on the whole him-cutting-his-hair-thing because I like it long (by long I mean an inch). At any rate, at 10pm we seated him in the kitchen and I clippered the heck out of his head. And I am sad at the lack of hair he now has.
In happier news, the fabulous Kristi loved her gift. I made her a pair of mitts from some lamb's pride worsted in clemantis with some white acrylic yarn making a skull and crossbones on the back of the hand. Stefanie's skully to be exact. I hadn't ever done any intarsia before and I'll have to say I don't care much for it. But the mitts looked fantastic. I ran out of time and didn't photograph them this morning, but Kristi's promised me a photo to post here for you. I got a fabulous, very warm, stripey scarf from her and we had a blast knitting/crocheting together this afternoon. She heads home Friday and I head home next Wednesday so I won't see her again for a whole 2 weeks or so *sniff sniff*.
Christmas knitting is progressing, although my sister's box didn't make it in the mail today. I have decided it HAS to go tomorrow, because I'm getting short on time. Luckily it only has to make it halfway across the country, not all the way like it would to home. eek!
Ahh..Accomplishment.
Today has been a lovely-good day for me. I had a meeting with a professor for the project I'm working on, it was very cool to get to talk to him outside of the strictly classroom setting. I also got back my final and term project from his class. I wrote the term paper in two days because time got really crunched at the end and I was shocked to discover that he gave me a 92% on it. All of my grades got turned in and I did really well overall, 3 A's and a Pass. I guess that means that my first term wasn't as worthless as I had supposed it would be. I also made absolutely perfect rice for dinner and had an excellent half hour nap on my couch.
My to-do list from this point on for the night is to finish up the Christmas gift I'm making for the Fabulous Kristi, sign and address my Christmas cards (which I just made today), make gift tags and do some wrapping, including packing up my sister's gifts into a box all labeled and everything to be shipped off tomorrow. I'm trying to decide whether to send it UPS or USPS because I have fairly easy access to both a UPS store and a post office. I really don't ship enough things to know which would be cheaper. I'll let you know what I discover.
Getting There.
Well, after a weekend of doing pretty well nothing but knitting and sleeping (and some Christmas shopping too I suppose) the piles of gifts are starting to accumulate in my apartment. I'm going to organize things soon since I'd like to send my sister's gifts to her soon since she will be staying in Illinois for the holiday. However, before I do that I have to figure out exactly what all are her things and wrap them. I also have to finish putting together my holiday cards, which may be less than the spectacular creature I'd have loved them to be. Lack of time and money equals crafty but mostly simplistic product.
I have 4 gifts left to knit. The majority of them don't have to be done until New Year's Eve so I'm pretty sure I'll be okay provided that I keep knitting a lot. I also have to balance my time with the drafting of the documents for the paying job. Bleh. And I have a billion and a half ends to weave in on a finished gift. Blech again! Anyway, that's the status of Gifts and TheBon. That's all for tonight.
Slow News Day.
I am consumed with knitting. That's all I did last night and all I've done today. I will be working at a paid, non-knitting, architecture related project for the next few weeks or month or so that I'm very excited about but I'm not sure how much I can say about it. Suffice it to say I'll be drafting building documents for a client who is working with somewhat primitive methods. Very cool and I'm destined to learn a fantastically large amount. And the money is good.
The Gauntlet Has Been Thrown.
Today at work my fabulous boss asked me when I'm going to dye my hair purple. There will be a fairly major hair overhaul here at CatharticInk sometime between now and Mid-January. At that point, I do believe it will be short enough that I can bleach the heck out of it and dye it in a rainbow of colors. Eeee!
