Dirty Head…

So, I'm at work.  I've finally gotten to the point of being able to produce something.  YAY! However, my printer was using woefully old drivers and printing like poo.  So I am currently sitting here cleaning the heads, and doing print head alignment.  Its thrilling I tell you, thrilling.

I got a lesson in font choices today.  I'm pretty ignorant about fonts, other than what they look like.  That, I know a lot about.  How to use them in marketing, on the other hand, I'm learning.  I'm learning a whole different brand of design than I'm used to doing actually.  Right now I'm doing informational signage for retail areas.  Its a lot different than promotional signage, or anything else I've done.  I'm enjoying it through, now that I don't feel like I'm completely in over my head.

I got my term project approved for my American Architecture II class!! I'm about a week behind on it, so that's good.  Somehow I'm much more interested in this than I am in my term project for my intro to HP class and I'm a little concerned about what that says.  I'd hate to finish this degree and realize that I'm not really headed anywhere in life...Oy.

Can I Have More Hours in a Day Please?

*note* most links open pop-up windows to photos*/note*

Tonight I have sound bites, as promised.  I also have really crappy video, I apologize for the quality, but we took the video with Derek's digital camera and then I just extracted the sound.  The first one is a discussion of the flu vaccine and how Canada's a dirty whore one day, and our saviour the next.  We also have a fitting synopsis of Bush's whole campaign.  There's no water in the glass. That came from a discussion about how, during the debates, Bush drank from an empty glass, and kept drinking, as though we'd believe that there was water in the glass, like so many people believed there were WMD.  And the 3rd soundbite: flip flopper--- or No. 1 liberal?

Alright, the event was awesome.  Chris arrived at my door at 9.15 to escort Derek and I to see Michael Moore at the Lane County Fairgrounds.  We stood in line from 9.30 until 11, right behind several Billionaires for Bush.  There was a free speech zone which Chris decided was a photo opportunity waiting to happen because no one used it.  He was the only person who even stepped into it.  When we got in to see the show, we got seats in the front row and had a discussion about reproductive rights and abortion.  When I asserted no one was going to tell me what I can and can't do with my uterus, Chris joked "its an our-terus, not a you-terus, didn't you know?"  And then we laughed.

Moore had a lot of things to say, including telling us about his next film, which will go after healthcare, especially the pharmecutical industry.  In fact, he had a memo that was sent to Pfizer's employee's giving them a hotline to call if they saw someone of Moore's description at the facility and advising them that perhaps they might not want to talk to him.  He also gave out underwear and ramen noodles, as door prizes, aimed at those who hadn't voted last election (and were of age) who promised to vote this time...Mostly they just threw them into the crowd and one landed right behind me.

I sat next to a total chippy who was enthusiastically in support of Moore, apparently for social reasons as she had no idea about half of the things he mentioned (I had to listen to her say, "really???" about a million times).  Also, at one point, most of her breast was hanging out from her bad 80's ripped sweater.  To add all to it, when there was a brief outburst from 2 Nader supporters (to which Moore responded: "didn't your parents tell you five minutes of pleasure have a lifetime of consequences?") she kept screaming at them to shut up, and get out with a lot of profanity.  I understand its her right, but it was their right to be at the event and voice their opinions.  At any rate, one of them walked up to the fence around the stage to confront Moore and the police escorted the two of them out.  Another noteable point in the event was Moore letting us know that he, himself, helped to get bootlegged copies of Farenheit 9/11 over to the troops, stating that he thinks material should be shared, and that some bands have got it wrong in trying to keep their music away from the people.  It was mostly a big, let's vote, let's get Bush out, hooray John Kerry event, which was nice, and Moore was funny, but there's a little part of me that agrees with my boyfriend...Moore was more entertaining before he got so political.  Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for his next movie, I just miss the old brand of comedy and regret that we live in a world where he has to take the stance he does.

Hail to the Cheese

I may never be able to leave the Pacific Northwest for no other reason than I don't know what I would do without my cheese.  My favorite is the Pepper Jack but they also make fantastic cheddar.  I've always been a big cheese eater (except for american cheese, that stuff is mostly vile) but this stuff is fantastic.  Next spring I'm going to try to talk Derek into making the drive to Tillamook to visit the cheese factory...Mmm...cheese...

Michael Moore.

Busy day today, and there will be a full post about my Michael Moore experience tomorrow (probably late).  I just don't have the time tonight.  It was excellent and there are quite a few photos.  Derek, Chris and I mananged to sit in the front row, and at one point Chris made a comment to which Mr. Moore responded.  Yep, so close he could hear comments made by us.  It was mostly uneventful but the Nader supports did get escorted out by the cops after one of them got too close to the stage.
