I lied.
Unless I get to it before I leave tomorrow, there won't be any pictures until I get back from Idaho. And Derek says because I haven't cancelled my godaddy hosting that my site will not experience any downtime. So, it'll be there, there just won't be anything new. Have a great week!
Done
Last night Derek moved his sewing kit home which include a fantastic button jar that Nanie put together for him, from clothing that she took apart. I found two buttons suitable for my bag, and buttoned it up. There will be photos later today, but its a busy one right now. I'm heading to Idaho tomorrow afternoon, so there's a lot of cleaning, laundering and packing going on here. This site will switch over to the new host sometime while I'm gone, so it'll be down for 24-48 hours, depending on how long it takes the DNS to update.
Back to Idaho. I'm going for field school, and I'm driving down with three other women from the program. I've only met one of them, and she's great, I'll meet the other two at 6.30 tonight, as we're getting together for coffee or ice cream (we had discussed beer, but while 3 of us are grad students, the 4th is only 19--she's an HP Minor and is getting her B.Arch at the same time). At any rate, we'll leave tomorrow afternoon, drive a couple-few hours to Cascade Locks in the Columbia River Gorge, and stay there overnight with people that one of the girls knows. There was also a possibility of her friends getting us free hotel rooms, which would be neat. Then around 6am Sunday the four of us will pile back into the car for another 10-12 hours of driving to arrive in Harriman State Park around 5pm. We'll be there for a week, actively rehabing historic buildings and visiting Yellowstone. I'm getting very excited.
Someone outside is listening to bad, irritating metal and I've just overheard that 13 apartments are moving out this months. That's a lot of people, although not even half of what live here. I'm wondering why so many all at once, and pondering if it has anything to do with the fact that in the month of August the apartment manager scolded people about having unauthorized pets, and told us that if they weren't gotten rid of or the $300 cat deposit paid, that they would be asked to give a 30 day notice. Hmmm. I love this apartment complex, another guess about why so many now is that there are quite a few students and so with school starting again, they may be moving in with friends elsewhere in town.
Other doings in my life is that Derek told me on Wednesday that he broke a wisdom tooth. He then went to the dentist yesterday morning and they had to crack what remained of the tooth into 7 bits, and the cut them out. He was swollen, in pain, and mostly unhappy about it when he got here last night, so I set about making him a supper that consisted of mashed potatoes, applesauce, scrambled eggs and orange sherbert. Then we both went to bed early so I could get up early this morning and get going...And on that note...I'm going to get going...
Ready to Felt
The new bag is done, it just needs to be felted. I'm not sure what I ought to call it, although it really makes me think of grapes. Or wine. I don't know. At any rate, felting will be occuring tomorrow.

I-Cord Makes My Head Hurt
As promised, here's a photo of the tote that I am working on. I keep changing it as I go along, I was just going to make it square bottomed, but then I've been looking at it and it just looks better with the sides squished out like that. The flap will be attached with snaps, and I'm working on i-cord straps. I-cord is seriously tedious. I got it started last night, and then promptly got a migraine, so that was the end of that. I also need to make my catch all pounch for the inside, it will be blue with purple trim, I also want to but an edging on the top of the bag, and the flap in purple, and then once it is felted, I'm going to embroider something on the flap (I think). I'm hoping to finish it on my day off tomorrow, but we'll see.
Tote on.
So, I've officially decided that the way the marsupial tote works only works for me in theory, and in practice would end up being something that I would put time and effort into but never use. So, since I stood outside and held the tent down for 3 hours at our sidewalk sale yesterday, I planned all of my modifications to that pattern, by the time I get done with it, it won't look anything like the original. I'm okay with that. I'll post photos tomorrow, hopefully I'll have the bulk of it done by then.
