Cathartic Ink putting my own spin on things

WIP After All.

I figured I'd take some photos of my scarf, wee as it is right now.  So here, for your viewing pleasure, is something I hope will use up the last of this infernal yarn.  Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I've knitted 3 hats and this scarf from it now.  Anyway, without further ado, the wee-ness of my scarf:

Almost

I almost had a WIP for you folks, but I frogged it.  My Cascade 220 lace scarf got scrapped in favor of Wendy's Feather and Fan Scarf.  I'm not very far yet, because there was dinner to be made, and a movie to be watched.

Recently I've watched Alex and Emma, 50 First Dates, Ella Enchanted, Laws of Attraction, Calendar Girls and In America. I didn't care for Alex and Emma, 50 First Dates was alright, Laws of Attraction and Ella Enchanted were cute but I probably wouldn't spend money for them, and Calendar Girls and In America were pretty good.  That is definitely one of the positives of my job. Free rentals! Woo!

I bought yarn online today for Nonnie's scarf.  Thanks to Beth, I found some Douceur et Soie in this fantastic pink color:

It should be here within the next two weeks.  I'm very excited to work with this yarn, and that color is absolutely perfect for her.

A Move is in the Works.

I've been offered free hosting as a way around GoDaddy's idiot customer service rep. So sometime before the sixth of September Cathartic Ink will be down for 24-48 hours to let my domain switch over to the new hosting.  I'll let you (all three of you or so) know before hand, so that it's not a surprise.  Wheee!

They Like Me! They Really LIKE Me!

Shortly after I returned from the grocery store yesterday afternoon I got a call from work.  I kind of assumed someone had called in sick and they needed me to come in, but when I answered it my friend Kristie says to me "Megan and I have planned your Thursday night." We have another midnight meeting and Megan didn't want to have to take the bus home and then get someone to drive her back again, and figured she'd ask if she could come hang out here.  Then Kristy decided that she wanted to see some of the stuff we just got in but she doesn't have a DVD player and we didn't get VHS so they figured they could bring over some standup comedy on DVD and the three of us could hang out here together.  I am actually pretty excited by this idea, it'll be the first time I've really hung out with anyone except Derek and his friends since I moved here.  I know I have a great apartment, so it'll be fun to share it with people.

On a side note, and I know not too many people read this, but I'm doing my part...J. Jacques of Questionable Content is going to be trying to make his webcomic his full-time job. So go over, check it out, and if you're able, donate or buy a shirt!

Domesticity.

I sometimes think that Derek is a little surprised by the amount of domesticity that I show. I do a lot of the cooking, although if I'm going to be working late, he makes supper to be ready when I get home, which is much appreciated.  Today I had a super house-wife-y day.  I did a couple loads of laundry and then walked through the drizzle to the grocery store (its about 6/10ths of a mile away) to pick up some chocolate chips and a little more flour in order to make chocolate chip cookies.  I highly recommend the recipe on the semi-sweet ghiradelli chocolate chips (they cost the same as Nestle).  They are quite possibly the best cookies I have ever made.  I also spent time cooking up a chili-esque hamburger meal that I mixed with rice.  It turned out really well, and a lot of food for not a lot of money or time.  And now I am watching John Kerry on the Daily Show.  He's really well spoken and very smart.  I'm not sure if he's the best man for the job, but he's by far the best man running for the job. He also handles John Stewart's jokes and jabs really well. I find it a little intriguing that he's wearing a Livestrong wristband, but then again, they are super trendy right now.  Luckily, they also go to a good cause.

I am also on a quest for a soft, fuzzy yarn in pink.  I spent several hours on ebay searching for yarn with which to knit
this scarf for Derek's Nonnie as a Christmas gift.  I am not normally a big fan of the color pink, but this woman's entire wardrobe must be some shade of the color.  I'm having a problem finding yarn in a color that I like--somewhere between cotton candy and neon pink, or a varigation between the two.  I've found some that would be suitable, however, they are only sold in lots of 10 skeins or something.  I also dislike having to pay $15 for a skein of yarn, although I would do it if I had to.  My laptop is currently up for sale on ebay, to be used for parts, since it is currently being used as a seven pound paperweight, and I intend to blow the profits on yarn.  And on taking Derek out to dinner since he did all the work to get it up for auction.  The LCD screen is in GREAT condition, and the keyboard is still very new, so I hold out hope that we may get a little more money than its currently at for it.  At any rate, its money that's extra, and its mine to blow. I haven't gotten to do that since graduation and the money crunch that came with it, but my finances are looking up very soon, and I'm going to have a little knit-fun.  At any rate, if anyone knows where I might find such a yarn, please please let me know.

*note*My timestamps are all screwed up right now. We're trying to figure out how to fix them.  Please bear with me.
