Cathartic Ink putting my own spin on things

Welcome to my home, Part I.

Alright, room one on the photo tour of my apartment: my bathroom. Note, the apartment complex I live in was built in 1969 and I'm pretty
sure all of the fixtures are still original. I love my early 70's butter yellow bathroom!

Alright now. (From L to R) we have my bathroom as you see it when you enter, looking left to right. First we have
my sink and toilet. After the toilet we get my shower. And that's all there is to the bathroom. He doesn't really understand my need to make things match,
but since the bathroom was butter yellow, I was either going to go with dark green or chili pepper red. I opted for red. Except the toothbrush cup. I couldn't get one in red so I made it match the
other ceramic parts of the bathroom. Also, we have a close up of my rubber duckies. The bigger one I bought in Fargo, the little one's underside tells me when the water is too hot for a baby.
Derek bought me that and gave it to me the day I moved in here. The last picture is a preview of the living room, showing the daisies that he bought me atop the bookshelf we built together.

Ink on skin part II.

I found the photos I had of my two tattoos. The first one I got when I was 18 and it is on the small of my back:

The second I got when I was 20. The colors in this photo are really faded, partially due, i believe, to an alcohol-induced
tan gotten while tubing on the Apple River in WI and partially due to flash washout.

There's something inately satisfying to me about having slightly bleach scented hands after spending a half an hour scrubbing the bathtub.
There's something even more satisfying about discovering that I could remove much more of the ick around shower doors than I believed would be possible. I am very much looking to the day when I live
in a place with brand new fixtures, as this tub is over 30 years old and has obviously had some tenants that were not as neat-freaknik as I am.

Life is, indeed, good.

I'd like to start this entry with a note about one of the cutest things I have seen in a long time. The other night Derek and I were
bringing in our newly purchashed 20x48" resign folding table in to the apartment and on the sidewalk we met the man that lives under my apartment and another man. Now, I couldn't tell you which of
them actually lives there as I have always seen them together, but the one following behind was clutching an absolutely darling yellow and green purse. It was adorable.

Work was tedious
and somehow soothing today. I was in charge of the first five hours of getting the day's quantity of previously rented product ready to be on the shelf for purchase. I ended up working with a total
of 537 DVDs. The girl who came in after me got to finish the DVD's, pull the VHS and prep that, and then prep games. I got the larger end of the deal, but it was alright. I kind of like the
tedious jobs such as that. Gives me time to stand and think. I couldn't really tell you what I was thinking about, but it was lovely anyway, to just kind of come into myself while my hands
performed the simple, repetitive actions neccesary for the job. Tomorrow I work 12-8 and based on comments made today, I do believe that if I'm not working till and handling the movie drop, I will
be set to make sure the new release wall is in perfect order. The "loose alpha" organization of the store drives me absolutely crazy. I am far too anal to believe that there should be c-title
movies mixed in with b-title movies, making it miserably hard for anyone to find anything. In fact, one movie in specific is a full 20' from where it belongs in the alphabet. Its crazy I tell you,
I don't quite understand it. It just makes my brain hurt.

It looks like Sunday I will be in possession of the equivilent of a king sized bed. Jill, Derek's mom, is bringing us a second
mattress and box spring that matches the one that lives in my bedroom currently and we will go get some dental floss to sew the mattresses together. And then go purchase some sheets. WOO! New
sheets! I love domesticity.

ink on skin

Life is wonderful here. Derek is fantastic, our relationship is amazing. I can honestly say I have never been in a relationship like this
before and I love it when I can wake up and know he's a part of my life, and even better, wake up and know he's in the apartment with me. Right now we are suffering from tinybeditis, but his mom
offered to get us a second mattress and boxspring so soon we should have a kingsized bed on the floor in the bedroom. My apartment is amazing. I still can't get over how much space I have, although
I have managed to stop cowering in fear at every tiny noise I hear when I'm alone. The apartment complex is full of semi-friendly people, we always chat when we meet in public places, like the pool.
The pool is lovely and good, and I got a sunburn the last time Derek and I went for a swim.

In other big news my wonderful, amazing, gorgeous little sister called me about two weeks ago
and told me she was preparing to go in and get a tattoo and asked me to help her design it. So, I sat down one night with her verbal picture in my head and drew up some flash for her. She loved it
and yesterday she went to see Julie, the woman who did both of my tattoos, and now has some of my artwork permanently on her back. I am hugely honored that she asked me to do it. She herself is
artistically talented, but she says she's out of practice now. Also, her neuropathy meds make her hands shake so she's relearning how to write and draw while compensating for the shakiness. At any
rate there are now at least 2 people in the world with my artwork on their body. I have two tattoos, I'll have Derek takes photos of them next weekend to post if I remember. I have a small black
and white graphic on my lower back and a medium-sized dragon at the base of my neck. Sarah now has a slightly opened rosebud on her lower back. In fact, here's a photo of the flash I did for
her:

Alright, its late, I have to work tomorrow morning. I'm to bed. More soon.
