Ugh.
So, the heat is driving me crazy. I'm a little tired of being coated in my own sweat constantly. We spent an hour in the pool last night and another hour in the pool tonight. I am not built for this kind of heat. I would be tempted to have a/c right now, if only to run it for the month out of the year its actually needed. I can't wait until it's cool enough to run my oven again, its definitely not cool enough now. Anyway, I have a couple of drunk men in my apartment, so that's all for tonight.
Could Someone Please Turn Down the Heat?
My god, I don't know if I can take this climate. 5.45 pm and its 96 degrees...At least the humidity is only at about 20%. I feel like I'm roasting inside my skin. My apartment is so still and close, even with both the ceiling fan and box fan going. I could go out and swim, only I didn't sleep well last night and I am wiped out completely. Work was long and busy today, and I'm just exhausted. I'm going to go take a nap.
IllustratorCS is Fun!
I spent a good chunk of time playing in Illustrator today. This post is mainly just to test out the image upload, thumbnail generator Derek made for me. However, I've discovered that it is fun to take the templates that illustrator has and change the living daylights out of them. So that's what this is:![]()
Woohoo, DangerDuck!
As you can see, the blog looks a little bit different today. Comments from when I was publishing through blogger are gone for now, Derek's plan is to try and swap them all over tomorrow. There's a handy selector so that if you really liked the pinup girl you can make her come back. I do actually have one of the Devil Duckies, mine is red with black horns. It wasn't until after I designed this skin (back in early May) that I realized that I used a variant on the UO's mascot AND colors. So its kind of my homage to where I am in my life right now. I'm a duck, I guess.
I realized earlier how much of a lush I am not while discussing the alcohol that is currently in my apartment with Ben. We were discussing how much he and Chris need to come back over for a night of beer and laughs like they did the first weekend I lived here. I have 5(?) cans of Busch that my dad bought and didn't finish drinking when we moved me out here as well as a half a bottle of Charles Shaw Chardonnay from Mid-June that Derek and I found to be too dry, with a taste a little too much like burning, to actually drink. In fact, I think that since Mid-June the only alcohol I have had was a glass of champagne at Tiffany's wedding. Gee, I'm such a lush. Anyway, hopefully you all like the new site, let me know what you think!
Basket-Case
Hey look! Its a knitting entry! Its about time. I actually have 3 FO's sitting in a basket awaiting photography. I'd take them now, but
there's no sunshine and the photos would likely come out very dark and bad. I did take time to snap a shot of my latest WIP. I'm making gifts currently and socks are my chosen currency. These ones
are being made out of Elann's Sock it to Me Collection: Esprit Print in Mediterranean Sea. The yarn is 98.3% Cotton 1.7% Elastic and it is so soft and
cushy and I think the socks are going to be fantastically comfortable for their wearer. Luckily, the giftee will be able to handle their handwash care instructions. Other projects on my list for
gifts is a stripey, bulky wool hat, and a pair of socks made from Elann's Sock it to Me Collection: Colori in Highland Berries. For those socks I intend on using Amy's Twist and Shout Socks. I tried them with the Esprit and it just didn't look good to me, plus it hurt my hands. So I'm winging it without a pattern,
making what I'm going to refer to as my Basket-case socks. Its just a really simple stitch pattern of knits and purls, nothing fancy, but I think it'll be a big hit. Click the thumbnail for my
progress.
