Cathartic Ink putting my own spin on things

Stupid? I think so.

I am so tired of this "low-carb", "carbs are evil" bullshit.
I guess this summer Pepsi, and possibly Coke are going to start producing mid-carb sodas. Pepsi will start making Pepsi Edge, which will be
made from half corn syrup and half splenda.

Pepsi estimates that 60 million consumers
drink both regular and diet soft drinks. As people trade off full-calorie drinks for reduced-calorie drinks, Pepsi
estimates the number of "dual users" has grown 75% in the past two years. Afridi says "dual users" represent "40% of
the volume of carbonated soft drinks."

"The consumer landscape has changed dramatically in the past couple
of years," says Dave DeCecco, Pepsi spokesman. "It's the right time to do something for those people in both camps but
who are not sure which way to turn."

Let's talk about names here for a minute. PepsiEdge says
to me "now with enough caffeine to kill a small elephant!!". Coke's upcoming product will be C2 a name so lame and unimaginative
it makes me a little sad.

He and I were talking about this. I
stated how stupid it was, like we need one more thing on the shelves at the grocery store. (This is why people from
elsewhere hate americans). His response was Sure we do, I know sometimes I'm drinking a lemon
pepsi, a vanilla coke, a lime diet coke, a pepsi one, a blue pepsi, and a cherry coke and I think "Something is
missing."

This, folks, is why I love him so very very much.

blogiversary.

This blog is 1 year and 2 days old since the first currently
published entry. This is actually the second blog I've had, or the third. The first was 5 years ago. This one
actually started sometime in late 2002 but I deleted the backlog because I was a mess. It also used to be named
something else...CatharticInk didn't get named until April...So happy first blogiversary to catharticink...

An interesting day all around…

Today, I whored my brain out for a bit. I participated in a
3 hour standardized testing session for $45. Why? Because I need a haircut. And new shoes. And to move halfway
across the country. It wasn't that bad, although the essay portion of the test (EST's academic profile) was a pain in
the butt. there were three different topics to choose from based different fields. The humanities, natural sciences
and social sciences. Now, architecture, particularly in context with this test, is a blending of art, science,
psychology and a million and a half other things...I had a horrible time trying to come up with ANYTHING for any of
them. I gave it my best try, I'm really unused to having a hard time with essays. I scored a 5.5 out of 6 on my GRE
Analytical Writing test...Oh well, I still got paid. :)

Then I took Paul to the dollar theatre to see Big
Fish, since tuesday is his 23rd birthday and I won't be able to do anything with him then. Big Fish was FANTASTIC! It
was sad, and made me cry, but I love Ewan MacGregor, there's something about him that just clicks in almost every role
I've ever seen him in. He's got such a wide, fun smile...On the way to the movie we caught a newsblurb on the radio
saying they found the body of missing student Dru Sjodin this morning. She's been missing since November and it's
really scary. They're pretty much positive they have the culprit in jail, they found her blood in his car...Anyway,
its frightening and sad, and people are sick and horrible. The guy was a level 3 sex offender who had attacked 3 other
women before...Ugh.

Paul and I then went to the green mill for dinner together, to talk and laugh and what
not. We were both pretty hungry and noted that it was taking unusually long for our food to come, as the waitress had
come by 10 minutes earlier to tell us it was almost ready. Paul's cell phone rang and while he was talking to an
aquaintance of his, our waitress and the manager came over to our table...to tell us that the grill had burst into
flames and therefore our burgers were completely burnt to a crisp. no problem, we didn't mind waiting, and they were
nice about it...in fact, they gave us our entire dinner free! It was kind of cool...

Look ma, no wet!

A new chemical concocted by scientists at the Tyco's
Fire and Security Division looks and acts just like water except for one thing... it doesn't get things wet.

While I think this is extremely weird, and I'd like to know how harmful the chemical compound and its
manufacturing process is, I think that it could be a very good thing for things like archives and historic
documents...That's a cool thing for me, given my chosen field of graduate study...But I'm concerned that something that
does this is very very bad for the earth. Which is not a cool thing.

In my friendster…

This guy is so
funny.
He also did a predate confidence booster video, which you can get to if you click the link shown above
the movie. There are also some dance lessons (kind of). He makes me laugh so hard I almost pee a little.
